The convent served as a haven for the Poor Clares, an order of nuns dedicated to a life of prayer, simplicity, and devotion.
As you approach the convent, you’ll be captivated by its impressive stone façade, showcasing a blend of Gothic and Manueline architectural styles. The intricate details, ornate windows, and delicate carvings on the exterior give you a glimpse into the craftsmanship of the time.
Today the building has been transformed into the headquarters of the City Hall of Guimarães. You can walk amongst the cloisters.
