City Museum in Fembo House

The City Museum in Fembo House (Stadtmuseum im Fembo-Haus) is Nuremberg’s only surviving large Renaissance-era merchant’s house, offering a fascinating journey through the city’s 900-year history. This beautifully restored 16th-century building provides a unique setting to explore the city’s cultural, economic, and artistic heritage.

Inside, visitors can wander through authentically furnished rooms, from the grand Renaissance hall to the intricately decorated baroque stucco ceilings. The museum presents historical artifacts, maps, models, paintings, and multimedia exhibits that showcase Nuremberg’s role as a medieval trading hub, its artistic achievements, and its transformation over the centuries. One of the highlights is a detailed model of Nuremberg’s Old Town, offering a glimpse into how the city looked before World War II.

Unlike many traditional museums, the City Museum in Fembo House makes history come alive with interactive exhibits and engaging storytelling. Whether you’re interested in architecture, medieval commerce, or everyday life in old Nuremberg, this museum is an excellent stop for anyone wanting a deeper understanding of the city’s rich and complex past.
