I’m an ordinary, run-of-the-mill web developer who happens to love travel and photography. Fortunately, those passions go together like peas and carrots.

I am a bit of an over-planner (if such a thing is possible). I’m known for creating my own travel book before leaving for vacation. Now, don’t get me wrong. I plan, but I don’t time my day down to the minute or anything. My workflow before a trip is the following:

  • For each destination, create a list and a map of all the sights in the area that I’m even a little interested in visiting
  • Record a picture, hours, location, and description of each sight
  • Star the sights that I feel I absolutely cannot miss
  • For each day of my vacation, plan on visiting one starred sight, then make note of the ancillary sights nearby
  • During vacation visit my starred sight and then the ancillary sights based on the time available to me

What you will find on this site

  • As much detail about sights as I can pack in
  • Lots and lots of pictures
  • Birds (and other wildlife)
    • Yes, that’s right. I love birds and taking photos of birds, so I will report on the best places I’ve found to go birding near where I travel.

What you won’t find on this site:

  • In depth food reviews
    • I don’t have the most sophisticated palette and I never will. You could call me picky. I would be more than happy to eat buttered noodles or cereal at every meal. I will tell you about the places I stop to eat, but the food is not the reason I travel so it’s a bit of an afterthought for me.
  • Pictures of the backs of people as they dramatically walk toward some distant destination
    • This type of photo was interesting for about five minutes when it first came out. now it’s just overdone and you’re not here to see pictures of peoples’ backs, you want to see the destinations!
  • Women (or men) in long flowing gowns posing photogenically in front of attractions
    • If you’re looking for supermodel poses in front of well known places around the world, you’re in the wrong place. I’m not an Instagram model and I don’t want to be. You may never see pictures of me at all. You don’t care about me, you care about travel.
