Located within the Marienberg Fortress, the museum houses an extensive collection that provides insight into Franconian life from the Middle Ages to the present day.

One of the museum’s highlights is its remarkable collection of works by Tilman Riemenschneider, one of the most famous German sculptors of the late Gothic period. In addition to sculpture, the museum features folk art, historical artifacts, religious relics, furniture, and traditional costumes, giving visitors a deep dive into the culture and traditions of Lower Franconia. Another fascinating section is the wine culture exhibit, which highlights the importance of Würzburg’s centuries-old viticulture and winemaking traditions.
