The Hall of Liberation (Befreiungshalle) in Kelheim, Germany, is an awe-inspiring monument that sits atop Michelsberg Hill, overlooking the Danube River and the surrounding Bavarian countryside. Visit Notes
If you only have time for one church while in Regensburg, it should be this one. The details in this church are incredible, you almost don’t know where to look. Take your time here and really look at the frescoes, statues, and tombs. It’s free to enter the Abbey and when we were there at the end of May, we had the place almost entirely to ourselves.

Ostentor
The Ostentor (East Gate) in Regensburg is one of the city’s most iconic and well-preserved medieval gates, making it a must-see for anyone interested in history and architecture. As one of the major entrance points to the city, the Ostentor played a key role in its defense.
The Ostentor stands out for its twin towers and distinctive architecture, which is a blend of Gothic and Romanesque styles. The towers, with their steep roofs and decorative stonework, make the gate a stunning landmark. Visitors can admire the massive stone structure, which is still remarkably intact, and get a feel for how the city once appeared centuries ago.
The gate also offers a great view of the surrounding area and is located near the Ostengasse, a picturesque street that leads deeper into the city.
