Hello, Iโm Veronica
The sky is not completely dark at night. Were the sky absolutely dark, one would not be able to see the silhouette of an object against the sky.

Chiesa di San Salvatore in Onda

San Salvatore in Onda is a neighborhood church on Via dei Pettinari that dates back to the Middle Ages but was rebuilt in the 19th century and given to the Pallottine order. From the street it looks modest, but inside it opens into a bright, threeโnave space with twelve old columns and a calm, welcoming feelโmore like a parish church than a big tourist stop. Beneath the altar thereโs also an ancient crypt with Roman columns, a reminder of the churchโs long history and the layers under Romeโs streets.
Notable artworks include the large apse painting of the Madonna and Child by Cesare Mariani (1878) and the side chapel image known as the Virgo Potens, donated by Elisabetta Sanna, whose memorial is in the church. The high altar also encloses the sarcophagus that holds the body of St. Vincent Pallotti, founder of the Pallottines, making the church important for pilgrims and locals alike.

Chiesa di Santa Barbara in Largo dei Librari

Chiesa di Santa Barbara in Largo dei Librari is a small, tucked-away church named after Saint Barbara. From the street it looks modest and blends into the narrow lanes; inside, the space is cozy and quiet, with a simple nave and a few side altars that give it a local, neighborhood feel rather than a grand tourist vibe.
Notable artworks include a main altarpiece depicting Saint Barbara and several devotional paintings in the side chapels dating from the Baroque period, along with decorative stucco and rainbow marble details that brighten the interior. The church feels intimate and warm, and visitors often go there to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the small but well-kept works of religious art.
