Santa Cecilia in Trastevere (Basilica di Santa Cecilia in Trastevere) is a minor basilica and titular church in the Trastevere district of Rome. It is dedicated to Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, and it has been the seat of a cardinal titular since the 5th century.
The church you see today was rebuilt in the 9th century under Pope Paschal I. It’s especially known for its apse mosaic, the frescoes by Pietro Cavallini, Baroque sculpture, and the relics of Saint Cecilia, which are kept beneath the high altar. The basilica still serves as the convent church for the nearby Benedictine abbey, and on November 22 the feast of Saint Cecilia brings pilgrims, choirs, and musicians to the area from all over the world.
