Hello, Iโm Veronica
The sky is not completely dark at night. Were the sky absolutely dark, one would not be able to see the silhouette of an object against the sky.

Cappella della Madonna dell’Archetto

The Cappella della Madonna dell’Archetto is a very small chapel tucked into a narrow alley; itโs famous for its tiny, arched niche (the “archetto”) that holds an image of the Virgin Mary. Built in the 18th century after reported local miracles, the chapel is the smallest Marian sanctuary in Rome.
Inside the little space youโll find a painted Madonna above a simple altar, some votive offerings, and a quiet, intimate atmosphere that contrasts with the busy streets around it. Locals visit for private devotion and tourists often pause to see this charming, humble example of popular Roman faith hidden away from the large crowds.

Basilica di San Lorenzo in Lucina

Basilica di San Lorenzo in Lucina is an old parish church in Romeโs lively Campo Marzio area, named after Saint Lawrence and the ancient Roman family (Lucina) that once owned the site. From the outside it looks like a traditional Roman church with a simple facade and a classic portico; it sits on a busy square and feels like part of everyday neighborhood life rather than a big tourist stop.
Inside, the church has a wide nave with side chapels, marble altars, and artworks from different periodsโRenaissance and Baroque pieces mixed with older elementsโso it shows layers of history without feeling crowded. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming: locals come for Mass, while visitors can enjoy the paintings, elaborate ceiling, and the sense of a working church thatโs been part of the city for many centuries.

Santa Maria in Domnica

Santa Maria in Domnica, often called Santa Maria alla Navicella because of the small fountain shaped like a ship in front, is an old church near the Villa Celimontana that dates back to the early Christian period. From the outside it looks modest and tucked into a quiet street, but it has been repaired and changed over many centuries, so you notice different styles mixed togetherโancient stone, medieval touches, and later decorations.
Inside, the church feels warm and simple, with a single nave, columns that came from older buildings, and frescoes and mosaics that show saints and scenes from the Bible. Thereโs a peaceful, lived-in feel; locals go there for services while visitors come to see the old artworks and the little ship fountain outside that gives the church its nickname.
